The Atlanta Braves activated closer Raisel Iglesias from the injured list on Tuesday morning in Seattle. The move came less than 24 hours after a 5-4 loss to the Mariners, where the team blew a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning. Carlos Carrasco was designated for assignment to open a roster spot.
Iglesias, a veteran reliever, had spent the past two weeks resting a sore right shoulder. He was placed on the 15-day injured list after experiencing tightness on April 18, following a scoreless inning against the Phillies the next day. This season, Iglesias has allowed just five hits and recorded 11 strikeouts over 8 2/3 scoreless innings prior to the injury. Robert Suarez filled the closer role during his absence but will now return to a setup position in the seventh or eighth innings.
