China releases white paper on equitable global governance

China has released a white paper titled “More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China’s Principles, Proposals and Actions” that advocates updated rules for frontiers including AI and outer space.

The white paper was unveiled in Beijing. China’s top diplomat Wang Yi warned that the international system established after World War II has been disrupted by multiple crises, leaving global governance at a critical crossroads.

The document states that China sees no need to rebuild or replace the existing international system but supports changes more compatible with today’s realities.

The white paper emphasizes that growing global challenges require more effective governance and calls for a more just and equitable world order.
