Construction starts on Gondar integrated agro industry park

Amhara regional president Arega Kebede announced the launch of construction for the Gondar Integrated Agro Industry Park. The park is set to serve as an economic hub for Gondar and surrounding areas.

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2026. Amhara regional president Arega Kebede and Industry Minister Melaku Alebel launched construction of the Gondar Integrated Agro Industry Park.

The park is being built at a cost of 8.6 billion birr. More than 718 million birr has already been paid in compensation to farmers displaced from the area. Once complete, it is expected to create jobs for 221,000 youth and process over one million tons of agricultural products annually.

Arega stated that eight economic zones are planned for development in the region over the next five years. The minister noted that 17 industrial zones have been identified nationwide, with three already completed.
