Payment disruptions at Coop stores across much of Sweden have been resolved, according to the grocery chain. The issues began around 2 p.m. due to problems at Telia. By 6 p.m., Coop's press service announced that payments are largely returning to normal.
Payment problems at Coop stores began around 2 p.m. on April 15. Contactless payments with mobile phones and cards stopped working in large parts of the country following disruptions at telecom operator Telia.
By 6 p.m., Coop's press service reported an improvement. Payments are "returning to normal to a large extent," according to the statement.
"It may still take some time for the entire store network to function normally," said press chief Carlos Cancino to news agency TT.
Coop is one of Sweden's largest grocery chains, and the disruption affected many customers during the afternoon. No further details on Telia's issues have been disclosed.
