Technical problems at Transportstyrelsen disrupted several online services on Saturday. Users cannot deregister vehicles, complete owner transfers or take the theory test for a first-time driver's license.
The issues were discovered early on Saturday morning. Press chief Mikael Andersson said the agency has gross problems and has brought in extra staff working at high pressure to fix them.
No timeline exists for when services will be restored. Similar disruptions occurred earlier this year, both in February and earlier in May. The agency's management will hold a crisis meeting on Sunday.
Some functions returned in the evening, but Transportstyrelsen does not want to declare the danger over. There are no indications of external influence or a hacker attack, according to the press chief.
