The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is now delegating decision rights for wolf hunting licenses to county administrative boards in southern and central Sweden for three years.
This is the first time the delegation covers a three-year period. The aim is to provide county boards with clarity and predictability in wolf management.
The delegation applies in predator management areas where the number of wolves exceeds the minimum level. All county boards in the southern and central areas are affected except Gotland County, where there are no wolves.
In the northern management area no minimum levels for wolves are set. Therefore no delegation can take place according to the agency.
