Criterion is marking its 30th anniversary with a rebrand that emphasizes its role within Electronic Arts' Battlefield Studios. The UK developer has shifted focus to support on Battlefield 6 while reflecting on its racing heritage.
Criterion hosted press at its Guildford offices this week to discuss the changes. The studio now displays "A Battlefield Studio" beneath its name, signaling a commitment to the military shooter franchise.
Director of operations Amy Pejic and producer Stefan Wittlesburger addressed the move. They highlighted the studio's work on Battlefield 6, including last-minute fixes to the single-player campaign, and described a post-launch live service that remains strong.
Pejic said the industry faces turmoil but noted that joining the Battlefield family provides stability. The studio laid off staff in March despite the game's record launch.
Questions about racing games like Burnout drew cautious responses. Wittlesburger affirmed the team could deliver a top-class game, while Pejic noted internal discussions about racing's place in the future. The primary focus, both said, remains Battlefield.
