The Foundation Financing Act does not set deadlines for completing the examination process. Following a Federal Constitutional Court ruling that declared previous practices unconstitutional, established party foundations receive around 600 million euros annually. The Desiderius-Erasmus-Stiftung feels disadvantaged.
Erika Steinbach, associated with the foundation, is praised in comments as tough and steadfast. Critics see the behavior of the established parties as cartel-like, excluding new competitors.
