Inirerekomenda ng DOJ ang mga kasong pandarambong laban kina Jinggoy Estrada at Bonoan

Inirerekomenda ng Department of Justice ang mga kasong pandarambong at graft laban kay Senador Jinggoy Estrada at dating DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan kaugnay sa iskandalo sa flood control projects.

Ipinahayag ng Office of the Ombudsman noong Lunes, Mayo 18, 2026, na natanggap nito ang resolusyon ng DOJ. Inirerekomenda rin ang mga kaso ng direct bribery at corruption of public officials laban kay Estrada, Bonoan, at ilang dating opisyal ng DPWH.

Inalis sa listahan ng mga inirerekomendang kaso ang dating undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, Gerard Opulencia, at Henry Alcantara dahil sila ay nasa witness protection program. Inalis rin ang kaso laban sa yumaong dating undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral na namatay noong Disyembre 2025.

Sinabi ng Ombudsman na susuriin pa nito ang rekomendasyon bago magdesisyon kung isasampa sa korte. Nakapag-isyu na ang DOJ ng precautionary hold departure order laban kina Estrada at Bonoan noong Pebrero.

Ayon sa imbestigasyon, may ebidensya mula sa Senate hearings noong Nobyembre 14, 2025, tungkol sa di-umano'y 30 percent cuts sa regional flood control projects.
