The death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8 has risen to 65, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported 736,386 people affected, 1,447 injured and 36 still missing. Fifty-seven deaths were recorded in Region 12 and eight in Region 11.
The Office of Civil Defense said most fatalities resulted from earthquake-induced landslides. President Marcos ordered the release of P278 million to assist affected local governments.
