Egyptian tax authority extends VAT certificate validity to June 30

Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, announced an extension of value-added tax registration certificates until June 30, 2026. The decision aligns with directives from Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk to facilitate business activity and ensure stability in commercial transactions. Abdel Aal described it as a final opportunity that will not be renewed.

Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), announced that the validity of value-added tax (VAT) registration certificates has been extended until June 30, 2026. The decision stems from ongoing coordination between the tax and customs authorities, following directives from Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.

The extension aims to provide registered taxpayers with sufficient time to regularize their status. Abdel Aal emphasized that this is a final opportunity and will not be renewed, urging those whose certificates expired on March 31, 2026, or April 18, 2026, to act promptly.

Renewal procedures vary by office: in-person visits are required for non-integrated tax offices, while integrated offices and tax centers accept electronic submissions via the SAP system before the deadline.

Abdel Aal warned that failure to renew could lead to suspension of tax system dealings and disruptions in operations across governmental, non-governmental, and banking entities. The ETA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting taxpayers and improving the business environment, in line with Egypt's digital transformation and development of a modern tax system.
