New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has begun baseball activities more than a month after suffering a left calf strain. Catcher Francisco Alvarez is also progressing from a right knee meniscus tear and could return ahead of schedule.
Lindor started fielding drills, running sprints and taking swings in the indoor batting cages on Monday. The injury occurred in the fourth inning of a 3-2 win over the Twins on April 22 at Citi Field. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said the team will proceed day by day as Lindor checks more boxes before a possible rehab assignment.
