The official website of the Cockroach Janta Party was taken down on May 23, 2026. Founder Abhijeet Dipke accused the government of targeting the satirical movement over its criticism of leaders and demands for accountability on exam leaks.
The Cockroach Janta Party was formed on May 16 as political satire after a remark by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. Its X account was withheld on May 21. The website, which had nearly 10 lakh members, was removed at 9 a.m. on May 23.
Dipke said over six lakh people signed a petition on May 22 calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. He reported receiving death threats starting May 22, including one with his parents’ address in India.
The BJP has described the movement as a coordinated influence operation with possible foreign links. Ally TDP urged caution, noting that young people’s concerns should not be ignored and citing recent electoral shifts in Tamil Nadu.
