Tay Keith, the Memphis-born producer known for hits like Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” was found dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18. He was 29. Metro Nashville Police said no foul play is suspected.
The artist, born Brytavious Chambers on Sept. 20, 1996, rose to prominence with his trap-influenced beats. His credits include co-production on Drake and BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive,” Eminem’s “Not Alike,” and Sexyy Red’s “Pound Town.” Keith also worked on albums by Megan Thee Stallion, Offset, and Westside Gunn in recent months.
Police performed a welfare check at his Martin Street apartment and found him unresponsive. His death remains unclassified pending autopsy results, according to a department statement.
Tributes poured in from collaborators. BlocBoy JB posted on Instagram: “Damn Cuz You Just Hurt Me Bad. We talked everyday.” Fellow producer Hitkidd wrote: “I ain’t even got the words, we been doing this since 2010.”
Keith founded the DRUMATIZED label in Nashville, the city’s second Black-owned studio. He had discussed creating a scholarship at his alma mater, Middle Tennessee State University, before his death.
