Hanhart launches titanium Desert Pilot limited editions

Hanhart has released the 417 Ti Desert Pilot Limited Editions, drawing inspiration from desert rally racing. Available in 39mm and 42mm sizes, these chronographs feature matte Grade 5 titanium cases and sand-colored dials. The models are limited to 200 pieces each and priced at €2,990.

Hanhart, known for its historically inspired pilot's chronographs, has introduced the 417 Ti Desert Pilot Limited Editions, which take design cues from desert rally racing events such as the Dakar Rally and Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Unlike mere color variations, these watches incorporate lightweight titanium construction for a modern twist on the classic 417 series.

The new models come in two case sizes: 39mm with a 46mm lug-to-lug measurement, and 42mm with 49mm lug-to-lug. Both feature a 13.6mm thickness, including highly domed sapphire crystals with antireflective coating. The matte Grade 5 titanium cases provide a darker finish compared to previous stainless steel versions. They offer 100m water resistance and include rotating external timing bezels, making them suitable for diverse activities.

The dials adopt a sand-colored palette with black numerals and details, evoking desert landscapes. Hour numerals and central hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, though the brand notes that luminescence is less pronounced on the sandy background. Layout includes a 60-second sub-dial and a 30-minute totalizer, with the historic Hanhart logo and flyback functionality indicated on the dial.

Powering the watches is the manual-winding AMT5100 M movement, produced by Sellita. It features a flyback complication, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides a minimum 58-hour power reserve with accuracy between 0 and +8 seconds per day. The screw-in titanium case backs reveal a blued column wheel and mainplate striping through sapphire crystals.

Straps are textured tan or black rubber, sized 21mm for the 39mm model and 19mm for the 42mm, secured with titanium pin buckles. Each watch is individually numbered and limited to 200 pieces. Hanhart prices them at €2,990, a modest increase over stainless steel counterparts. Enthusiasts have praised the design, with one owner of a similar model noting, 'I absolutely love it. It fits me just right and keeps excellent time.' Others have suggested adding it to the main collection or compared it favorably to the Ranger model.
