Mga resolusyon sa House humihingi ng pagbabalik ng Pilipinas sa ICC

Naghain ng mga resolusyon ang mga batasang miyembro ng oposisyon sa House of Representatives upang muling mapagbalik ang membership ng Pilipinas sa International Criminal Court. Renee Co, Antonio Tinio, at Sarah Jane Elago—ng House Resolution 809 upang hikayatin ang gobyerno na muling sumali sa ICC sa pamamagitan ng pagbabalik sa Rome Statute. Samantala, mga kinatawan ng Akbayan—Perci Cendaña, Chel Diokno, Dadah Kiram Ismula—at si Dinagat Island Rep. Kaka Bag-ao ay naghayag ng HR 811 para sa parehong layunin.

Ayon sa resolusyon ng Makabayan, 'ang pagbabalik sa ICC ay magpapadala ng malinaw at malakas na mensahe na iginagalang ng Pilipinas ang mga obligasyong konstitusjonal nito, iginagalang ang kabanalan ng buhay, at nakatuon sa pagbasag sa siklo ng impunity at karahasan ng estado.' Dagdag pa nito, magpapalakas ito ng reputasyon ng bansa bilang demokrasyang iginagalang ang karapatan, magbabalik ng tiwala sa sistema ng batas ng Pilipinas, at magsusulong ng mga pakikipagtulungan na nakabatay sa hustisya at pamamahala.

Bilang kinatawan ng taong Pilipino, sinabi ng mga mambabatas na dapat silang maging tagapagtanggol ng hustisya, katotohanan, at transparency. Binabanggit din ng HR 809 ang Section 17, Paragraph 2 ng Republic Act 9851, na nagbibigay-daan sa paghahatid o pagpapadala ng suspek sa ICC kung ito ang humahawak ng imbestigasyon.
