J&K DGP directs intensified operations after Anantnag attack

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat ordered security forces to intensify area domination and intelligence operations after a terrorist attack in Anantnag killed one policeman two days earlier.

On July 25, 2026, DGP Nalin Prabhat chaired a security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Kashmir. The meeting assessed the security scenario across the Union Territory following the Anantnag attack, in which an unidentified terrorist shot a policeman at close range.

Prabhat directed officers to intensify area domination and night domination in vulnerable and urban areas. He also called for strengthening the security grid around critical infrastructure and reinforcing intelligence collection and coordination among agencies.

The DGP stressed the need for uninterrupted telecommunication connectivity, heightened situational awareness, and continuous oversight of weather-related preparedness. Officers at the meeting presented assessments of the prevailing threat perception and operational environment.
