Knec disowns fake workshop advert targeting deputy principals

The Kenya National Examinations Council has disowned a viral fake poster advertising a paid workshop for deputy principals and other school officials. The council said it is not involved in any such training and does not collect fees from the public. The notice claims the event will take place at Kenyatta University Main Campus.

The Kenya National Examinations Council issued a statement on Monday clarifying its position on the misleading advertisement. Officials stressed that the council is not the organiser of the workshop and does not run any training programmes that require payment from participants.

“We wish to caution the public that KNEC is not the organiser, neither is it involved in the training being advertised in this poster,” the statement read. The fraudulent notice includes payment instructions and a registration process for senior school assessment personnel.

KNEC further emphasised that it does not collect money from stakeholders for training on assessment or examination matters. The council urged Kenyans to verify all communications through official channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

The last major workshop organised by KNEC occurred on December 16 and 17 2024 at the Lake Naivasha Resort and focused on the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment pilot.
