Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has directed Delhi departments to implement a 20% reservation for former Agniveers in Group C posts by June 30. The quota covers recruitment in the Delhi Police, Fire Services, Prisons, and Forest and Wildlife departments.
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu chaired a review meeting on Thursday with the Chief Secretary, Police Commissioner and other senior officials. He instructed all departments to complete procedural formalities and amend recruitment rules by June 30 to introduce the reservation without delay.
The quota applies to direct recruitment for posts including police constables, fire officials, jail warders, forest guards and wildlife guards. Officials said the move aligns with the Centre’s Agnipath scheme launched in June 2022 to provide employment opportunities for former Agniveers after their four-year tenure.
Sandhu stated that integrating these personnel will utilise their discipline and training to strengthen public safety and environmental protection services. The administration aims to boost institutional capacity through this integration.
