Luis Fernando Mejía, who has led Fedesarrollo for seven years, announced his resignation from the executive president position on Monday via a post on his X account. In his statement, Mejía noted: “The Board of Directors of Fedesarrollo has accepted my resignation as executive director.” He highlighted that his tenure is the longest in the 55-year history of this esteemed Colombian organization focused on economic and social research.

Mejía expressed thanks to the Board of Directors for the trust placed in him, as well as to donors and allies who have backed the institution's mission. He also praised the Fedesarrollo team, calling their professionalism and academic rigor the key strategic asset. In his assessment, he hands over an organization bolstered by financial solidity, technical prestige, international reach, and a proven ability to shape public policy in the country.

The Board of Directors, in turn, issued a public acknowledgment of Mejía's dedication, leadership, and commitment to Fedesarrollo's vision. The resignation will take effect on December 31, 2025, closing a significant chapter for this Bogotá-based nonprofit foundation.
