A man's body, believed to be around 40 years old, was found hanging inside a locked ladies' washroom at Inderlok Metro station in northwest Delhi. Police broke open the door on Saturday evening after reports of a foul smell. Authorities have launched an investigation into the death.
On Saturday evening around 5:33 pm, NSP Metro police station received a call about a locked ladies' toilet door and a strong foul smell at the Sulabh toilet complex in Inderlok Metro station, northwest Delhi. Officers broke open the door and discovered a man's body, approximately 40 years old, hanging from a noose inside.
DCP Metro stated that the deceased is preliminarily identified as the washroom caretaker, last seen two days prior. The body's age accounted for the odour. The crime team examined the scene and collected evidence.
The body was preserved in the BSA Hospital morgue for 72 hours pending post-mortem. Metro officials are assisting with identification. Police registered a case and are probing whether it was suicide or involved foul play, noting the door was locked from inside.
According to India Today, police have initiated BNSS proceedings to confirm identity and circumstances of the death.
