French watchmaker MAT has released the Egg Master II, a mechanical watch designed for timing egg cooking. The model builds on the original 2020 quartz version with input from a noted chef.
The Egg Master II uses the Picobello case in a 39.5mm stainless steel design with a bidirectional bezel marked for poached, soft-boiled, medium, and hard-boiled eggs. Timings were validated with chef Fabien Pairon, who heads Auberge Communale du Mont-sur-Lausanne.
It runs on the Soprod M100 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Three straps come with the watch along with a travel case and tool.
Preorders are open on the MAT website at €990, with each piece numbered in a limited run assigned by order sequence. The brand produces watches based on demand received.
