Migración Colombia announced that land and river borders will remain closed from 6:00 p.m. on May 30 until 6:00 a.m. on June 1, 2026, during the first round of presidential elections.
The measure aims to guarantee national security and the normal conduct of the electoral process on May 31. Only transit in cases of force majeure or fortuitous events will be allowed.
Gloria Esperanza Arriero López, general director of Migración Colombia, stated that it is a sovereign decision and that the entity will maintain a permanent operational deployment in border areas.
The restriction will be applied in coordination with the Military Forces and the National Police. The country's other migration control posts will operate normally.
