The National Police in Huila department has launched a comprehensive operational plan for year-end festivities, deploying over 1,200 officers from all specialties strategically across municipalities. This initiative bolsters surveillance, control, and prevention against behaviors disrupting coexistence and public safety.

More than 100 officers from the Traffic and Transport Section will monitor major road axes, coordinating with the Ruta al Sur concession to prevent accidents and handle incidents. Police urge drivers to follow traffic rules, drive defensively, and take active breaks every two hours. At transport terminals, public service vehicles' mechanical conditions will be checked, with safety tips provided to drivers and passengers.

Controls will ramp up against the sale of gunpowder and adulterated or smuggled liquor, led by specialized units including the Childhood and Adolescence group, which will inspect commercial sites. Deployment will intensify in residential, commercial, and entertainment areas to curb fights and intolerance, encouraging moderate alcohol consumption.

GAULA, SIJIN, Intelligence, Carabineros personnel, and motorized reaction groups like GOES will position at key points for swift responses.

In Neiva, the Metropolitan Police held an awareness drive at El Pata toll under the slogan “Celebrate responsibly, your family awaits.” Scenes depicted a united family and a fatal drunk-driving motorcycle crash, highlighting alcohol and substance risks. Colonel Héctor Jairo Betancourt Rojas stated: “Because road safety starts with you, every decision counts to protect your own life and that of others.”
