Mahigit limang milyong pasahero bawat araw ang inaasahan na magbabiyahe sa panahon ng Holy Week, ayon kay Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

MANILA, Philippines — Nagpahayag si Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez na mahigit limang milyong pasahero bawat araw ang magbabiyahe sa panahon ng Holy Week.

"We have a large number of passengers because as we all know, it has been a tradition when it is Holy Week, we go to our provinces," ani Lopez sa isang press briefing.

Ng mga ito, mahigit tatlong milyon ang inaasahan sa Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, 2.6 milyon sa mga seaport, at sekitong 150,000 sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Bagamat mas kaunti ang mga bus dahil sa tumataas na presyo ng gasolina, siniguro ni Lopez na sapat ang suplay upang matugunan ang pangangailangan.

Gayunpaman, nagbabala siya ng posibleng mas mahabang paghihintay sa mga seaport dahil sa limitasyon sa gasolina ng mga barko, at hinikayat ang mga pasahero na mag-book ng maaga ng tiket. Nagtalaga rin ng karagdagang mga barko sa Marinduque, Batangas, at Calapan upang tulungan ang mga napag-iwang pasahero.

Isasara ang operasyon ng LRT-1, LRT-2, at MRT-3 mula Maundy Thursday hanggang Easter Sunday para sa maintenance, habang mananatiling operational ang EDSA Busway.
