Si Pangulong Marcos at si Isko, nagsimula ng pagbuo ng gusali ng PLM para sa health sciences

Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at ng alkalde ng Maynila na si Isko Moreno ang groundbreaking ceremony para sa bagong gusali ng College of Allied Health Sciences ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila kahapon. Layunin ng proyektong ito na tugunan ang kakulangan ng mga doktor at iba pang health workers sa bansa. Ang limang-palakad na pasilidad ay itatayo sa loob ng Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center sa Malate.

Sa Malate, Manila, idinagdag ni Pangulong Marcos na palalakasin ng bagong gusali ang health care workforce ng bansa at papalawakin ang access sa medical education, lalo na para sa mga mahihirap na estudyante. “(Through this program), their numbers will increase, and as a result, we will be able to provide better health services for our people,” sabi ng pangulo sa kanyang talumpati. Dagdag pa niya, magiging hindi lamang kompitent kundi principled din ang mga propesyonal na lalabas sa unibersidad.

Samantala, sinabi ni Alkaldeng Moreno na sumasabay ang proyekto sa mga layunin ng administrasyon sa health care. “In our own little way, with little resources – or whatever resources that we have – we will align ourselves with (the) national goal to provide quality health care to our people: whether on financial assistance, whether on delivery of services, whether putting up a facility, whether buying equipment and now, producing medical professionals in the next generation,” pahayag ng alkalde.

Ang gusali ay magkakaroon ng 90 classrooms, laboratories, simulation rooms, research facilities, auditorium at amphitheater, dalawang multi-purpose halls, split-level library, gymnasium, at cafeteria. Kasama rin ang administrative at faculty offices, conference rooms, clinic, chapel, rentable café space, computer laboratory, storage, utility rooms, elevators, at iba pang support facilities.

Kasabay ng groundbreaking, naglunsad din ang PLM ng bagong science programs kabilang ang medical technology at radiologic technology. Inaasahan na mapapalaki nito ang enrollment sa medicine at allied health programs. Ayon sa Manila Public Information Office at Presidential Communications Office, matatapos ang gusali sa loob ng dalawang taon.
