PhilHealth, nagpapalawak ng benepisyo sa maternity simula April 30

Nag-anunsyo si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na simula Huwebes, April 30, magrero-roll out ang PhilHealth ng mas malawak at mas mataas na benepisyo sa maternity upang tugunan ang mataas na gastos sa panganganak. Ito ay naglalayong maiwasan ang pagpapaliban o paglimitan ng medical care dahil sa kakulangan sa pondo.

Sa video message noong Miyerkules, April 29, sinabi ni Marcos na maraming ina ang nanganganak nang walang doktor dahil hindi nila mabayaran ang gastos.
"Maraming ina ang nanganganak na walang doktor. Hindi dahil ayaw nila ng tamang pang-alaga, kung hindi dahil hindi nila kaya ang panggastos. Ito ang nais natin baguhin," ani niya.

Ipinapataas ng bagong benepisyo ang coverage para sa normal delivery sa P29,000 mula sa dating P9,750. Para naman sa cesarean section, tataas ito sa P58,000 hanggang P62,000 mula sa P37,000.
Maaari nang maging zero ang out-of-pocket expenses para sa mga pasyenteng nasa ward, kahit sa private hospital, ayon sa pangulo.

Kasama rin sa package ang pagpapalawak ng prenatal check-ups mula apat patungo sa walo, kabilang ang vaccines at lab tests, at tatlong postnatal visits.
"Nais natin na walang buhay ang malalagay sa panganib dahil lamang sa kakulangan ng pera," dagdag pa ni Marcos.

Inaasahan ang benepisyong ito na matutulungan ang mga pamilyang Pilipino, lalo na ang mga kulang sa yaman, upang maging ligtas ang panganganak.
