The matchweek 31 fixture of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 took place at Stadion Gelora Bung Tomo on Saturday, May 2, 2026. PSBS Biak held Persebaya goalless in the first half, but the hosts dominated the second with four unanswered goals. Persebaya's goals came from Milos Raickovic (54th and 59th minutes) and Francisco Rivera (76th and 82nd minutes).
The defeat left PSBS rooted at the bottom of the standings with 18 points from 31 matches, unable to catch Madura United on 29 points. Mathematically, they are relegated to Liga 2 or Pegadaian Championship for the 2026/2027 season, despite three games remaining.
PSBS Biak caretaker coach Kahudi Wahyu Widodo admitted tactical issues in negative transitions were influenced by fitness factors. "Secara taktikal kami bermasalah di transisi negatif dan itu salah satunya dipengaruhi faktor fisik. Kualitas fisik pemain Persebaya memang terlihat berada di atas kami," he said in the post-match press conference.
Kahudi attempted a three-back scheme in the second half with aggressive wing pressure, but player fatigue hindered it. He praised Persebaya's patience and effectiveness. "Selamat untuk Persebaya. Mereka bermain cukup sabar kemudian melakukan kombinasi yang luar biasa sehingga bisa membobol gawang kami empat gol," he added. Kahudi also commended his players' fighting spirit, echoed by goalkeeper Dimas Galih Pratama who said the team gave their best.
