Ryan Turner's custom KTM 500 EXC-F targets backcountry rides

Ryan Turner, events manager at Mosko Moto, has modified a KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days into a rally-inspired machine for adventure riding. Based in White Salmon, Washington, Mosko Moto focuses on durable gear for off-road enthusiasts. The build emphasizes performance, protection, and vibrant graphics for demanding terrains.

Mosko Moto, founded in White Salmon, Washington, addresses the gap between lightweight mountaineering equipment and heavy adventure motorcycle luggage, drawing inspiration from brands like Arc’teryx and Patagonia. The company tests its products during events such as Dusty Lizard Campouts, where staff participate directly in backcountry conditions.

Ryan Turner, Mosko Moto’s events manager, embodies this hands-on approach. Originally from Idaho and raised on California’s central coast, Turner’s background includes surfing and motocross. Influenced by Ted Simon’s Jupiter’s Travels and Dakar Rally imagery, he transitioned to long-distance adventure riding after extensively using a KTM 990 Adventure. Now, his primary ride is a customized KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days, a 510cc street-legal enduro bike adapted for high-speed desert runs and technical mountain climbs in the American West.

Modifications enhance power and handling. Taco Moto applied a full performance upgrade, including a GET ECU and Graves exhaust, for better throttle response beyond factory settings. The WP XACT suspension received a custom re-valve and spring setup from Kreft Moto to manage rough terrain. It features Warp 9 custom wheels with Motoz Enduro tires and Nitromousse inserts to prevent punctures.

Navigation and control upgrades include a Moto Minded rally tower with Ruby R4 lights, Scotts Steering Stabilizer on Flexx Bars, ODI Grips, and a custom throttle tube. Protection elements comprise P3 Carbon skidplate, frame guards, and exhaust protectors, plus Bullet Proof Designs radiator guards and oversized Warp 9 blue-anodized footpegs.

The bike’s distinctive look comes from a Taco Moto graphics kit by artist Watto, featuring colorful, psychedelic neon designs that contrast the standard KTM orange. This setup supports Turner’s role in documenting adventure riding, aligning with Mosko Moto’s ethos of reliable gear for extended off-road trips.
