Sandiganbayan orders arrest of Marcoleta and Defensor over gifts

The Sandiganbayan's Fourth Division has issued arrest warrants against Senator Rodante Marcoleta and former congressman Mike Defensor for alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 46.

The anti-graft court issued the orders on July 8. It set bail at P30,000 for each. The charges relate to the alleged receipt of gifts from public officials.

Both men are already in custody. The Sandiganbayan's Third Division had ordered their arrest on July 6 in a separate non-bailable plunder case involving P75 million in undeclared campaign donations from the 2025 elections.

The Fourth Division directed that the new warrants be served at their places of detention. Defensor is held at the Quezon City Jail-Male Dormitory. Marcoleta remains with the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
