The Ministry of Public Education released a preliminary draft of the school calendar for the 2026-2027 cycle, with classes starting on August 31, 2026.
The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) announced on Friday a draft agreement on school calendars applicable to public and private basic education schools across the country.
According to the preliminary document, classes for preschool, primary and secondary levels will begin on Monday, August 31, 2026, and end on Friday, July 9, 2027, totaling 185 school days. The calendar includes an additional week of recess in August for teachers.
Pre-enrollment for the 2027-2028 cycle will take place from February 2 to 12, 2027. Scheduled vacations cover December 21 to January 5 and March 22 to April 2, 2027, plus nine days of teaching suspension.
The calendar for normal education sets 190 days and concludes on July 13, 2027. The document requires official approval and publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation to take effect.
