Sheinbaum opens exception for states to advance end of classes

President Claudia Sheinbaum indicated that some states could end the school year before July 15 if they decide to do so due to the 2026 World Cup or high temperatures.

Public Education Secretary Mario Delgado announced that all 32 entities agreed to keep the school calendar and end classes on July 15 for the 2025-2026 cycle.

Sheinbaum clarified that an exception would be allowed for states choosing to move the date forward. The president noted the measure would apply only in specific cases.

“In any case, if some of the entities, whether due to high temperatures or the World Cup issue, wanted to move the exit date, there could be this opportunity, but as an exception for some entities,” the president commented.
