Walang dagdag na gastos sa 3-term na kalendaryo ng paaralan – DepEd

Ipinagtanggol muli ng Department of Education ang paglipat sa three-term school calendar simula sa school year 2026-2027, na sinasabing hindi magdadagdag ng gastos sa mga magulang at nakatuon sa pagprotekta ng oras ng pagtuturo. Sa panayam sa dzMM, iginiit ni DepEd OIC-Undersecretary Carmela Oracion na ang pagbabago mula apat na quarter patungo sa tatlong termino ay simpleng muling pag-oorganisa lamang.

Naglabas ng DepEd Order 009, s. 2026 si Education Secretary Sonny Angara na nag-o-outline ng gabay para sa bagong kalendaryo. Ang unang termino ay mula Hunyo hanggang Setyembre, pangalawa mula Setyembre hanggang Disyembre, at pangatlo mula Enero hanggang Marso, na tatakbo mula Hunyo 8 hanggang Abril 8, 2027.

Ipinaliwanag ni Oracion na sa bawat termino ay may instructional block para sa pagtuturo at end-of-term block. Sinabi niyang hindi aalisin ang mga extracurricular activities ngunit ireschedula upang hindi maistorbo ang aralan. “Extracurricular and co-curricular activities are also important... but divided attention is always very problematic,” aniya.

Bagamat sinusuportahan ng DepEd, humiling ang Teachers’ Dignity Coalition ng pilot implementation. “A thorough study is needed and it is also important to have a pilot implementation,” sabi ni TDC chair Benjo Basas. Katulad din ang Alliance of Concerned Teachers, na nagduda sa epekto nito dahil sa kakulangan ng mga pag-aaral at resources.

Kasabay nito, nag-anunsyo ang DepEd ng mga summer remediation programs tulad ng ARAL para sa 3.7 milyong mag-aaral upang tugunan ang learning gaps.
