DepEd: Kalendaryo ng trimester para sa pribadong paaralan

Libre ang mga pribadong paaralan na magkaroon ng sariling istraktura ng kalendaryo, ayon sa Education Secretary Sonny Angara, sa gitna ng pahayag ng Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations na hindi kailangang sundin ng pribadong paaralan ang three-term school calendar.

Sa isang pagkakataong panayam sa Quezon City, sinabi ni Education Secretary Sonny Angara na hindi sakop ng bagong three-term school calendar ang mga pribadong paaralan. “Private schools are not really covered. Even in the school year, they don’t follow it, they have flexibility. The DepEd graduation is on March 30 and 31, private schools don’t, others in May, in June, so private schools are really more flexible,” ani Angara. Ayon sa COCOPEA managing director Joseph Noel Estrada, bagama't may ilang pribadong paaralan na nagpapatupad nito, kailangan ng batas upang masaklaw lahat ng paaralan na nag-ooffer ng basic education. Ang three-term calendar ay mula Hunyo hanggang Setyembre para sa first term, Setyembre hanggang Disyembre para sa second, at Enero hanggang Marso para sa third, at ito ay ipatutupad sa mga pampublikong paaralan simula school year 2026-2027. Ipinagtanggol ng DepEd na resulta ito ng malalim na konsultasyon sa mga guro, school leaders, magulang, learners, at mula sa public at private sectors. Sumuporta ang National Association of Public Secondary School Heads Inc. (NAPSSHI), na sinabi ni president Roland dela Cruz na mapapahusay nito ang learning distribution, mastery, bawas sa pagod, at mental wellness. Sinusuportahan din ng Philippine Elementary School Principals Association. Samantala, tinanggihan ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) ang depensa ng DepEd, ayon kay chairperson Ruby Bernardo, dahil hindi naaayon sa karanasan ng mga guro ang sinasabing konsultasyon. Bukod dito, bilang tugon sa fuel crisis mula sa Middle East war, pinirmahan ni Angara ang DepEd Memorandum 22 noong March 25, na nag-oorder ng energy conservation measures sa mga paaralan, kabilang ang tamang paggamit ng ilaw, bentilasyon, at monitoring ng kuryente.
