SIT report finds 70 instances of Ram Mandir donation theft, two officials resign

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust accepted resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra during a meeting. The special investigation team's interim report indicated around 70 cases from CCTV footage.

In Ayodhya on 6 July 2026 the trust held a high-level meeting where resignations of former general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Dr Anil Mishra were accepted. Treasurer Govind Dev Giri said in a press conference that Champat Rai has no connection to the case and remains innocent in his view.

According to the special investigation team's interim report CCTV footage from 27 April to 5 June 2026 showed evidence of around 70 instances of employees hiding notes, covering cameras and misappropriation. The report named six individuals Avneesh Shukla, Anuj Kumar Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Krishnam Pandey and Ramshankar Mishra with prima facie involvement.

The report accused Dr Anil Mishra of laxity in security and search procedures. The trust stated that records of 2926 types of physical offerings are maintained and the Ramcharitmanas is safe.
