Mega Crit co-founder Casey Yano revealed plans to expand Slay the Spire 2's early access with new characters and three modes. In an interview with PC Gamer, Yano teased additions beyond the current five playable characters. He described the upcoming modes as competitive, time-efficient, and socially interactive.
Casey Yano, co-founder of Mega Crit, discussed Slay the Spire 2's early access roadmap in an interview with PC Gamer. He confirmed the game will introduce new characters, expanding the roster beyond the five currently available, including the simpler Regent with two resources and the more complex Necrobinder. 'I do wanna try a few things, but they kinda have to pass our experimental phase? And I’m not sure if all that will be public, but we’ll see,' Yano said, noting the initial characters are relatively straightforward designs. This marks the first official confirmation of roster expansion teased only in-game previously. Yano also outlined three new modes in development. The first targets players seeking a competitive experience, the second offers the core Slay the Spire gameplay for those short on time, and the third explores social or multiplayer-like interactions using existing systems. 'There are three specific things that I have in mind, which I’ll try to explain in a vague way to not give away too much,' he stated. These updates reflect Mega Crit's ongoing development plans amid the game's early access success.
