Slay the Spire 2 sells 3 million copies and logs 25 million runs in first Early Access week

Slay the Spire 2 has sold 3 million copies at $25 each—generating around $75 million before fees—and seen more than 25 million runs attempted in its first week of Steam Early Access since March 5, 2026, developer Mega Crit announced. The deckbuilder peaked at over 430,000 concurrent players, topped Steam charts, released exploit fixes, and teased updates, accessibility features, and new merchandise.

Mega Crit revealed the milestone on March 13, eight days post-launch. Community manager Demi wrote: “Slay the Spire 2 has been out for merely a week and we have already hit 3,000,000 units sold with more than 25,000,000 runs attempted!! (At least a few million are missing from that last datapoint as we started collecting these metrics a bit after launch. So... wow.) Our team has been extremely excited to see so many people's enthusiasm for what we’ve been working on for the past five years – but our journey is just beginning!”

The game dominated Steam's best-seller charts for several days amid its blockbuster launch. Near-term priorities include alternate versions of Acts 2 and 3, more cards and events, Steam Workshop mod support, multiplayer quality-of-life improvements, Twitch integration, new art and VFX assets, phobia accessibility options, a badge and scoring system revamp, and friends-only leaderboards. Updates will follow a flexible cadence, with a public beta branch on Steam for more frequent testing.

Recent patches addressed a damage exploit by capping HP at 999,999,999 for players, enemies, and pets; resolved softlocks and multiplayer bugs; and began adding missing launch card art.

Accompanying the sales reveal, Mega Crit announced a Kickstarter for the Slay the Spire board game expansion Downfall, letting players control bosses; a vinyl release of the original Slay the Spire soundtrack; new Slay the Spire 2 plushies; and additional merchandise from Fangamer.
