Spain’s gambling regulator has ordered internet providers to block access to prediction market platforms Polymarket and Kalshi. The move targets unlicensed betting products tied to future events. Proceedings against the companies are expected to last three to four months.
Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs opened disciplinary proceedings against the platforms. The Directorate General for Gambling Regulation cited a lack of required licenses under Spanish gambling law. Officials also pointed to insufficient safeguards for minors and self-excluded gamblers.
