Suzuki to launch V-Strom 800DE in India soon

Suzuki is preparing to introduce its V-Strom 800DE adventure motorcycle in India, following tests and a showcase earlier this year. The bike features a 776cc parallel-twin engine and advanced electronics for touring. It will compete with models like the Honda Transalp 750 in the premium middleweight segment.

The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, an adventure touring motorcycle, is set for an imminent launch in India. It was spotted undergoing testing in the country last year and displayed at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier in 2023. This model draws from Suzuki's liquid-cooled 776cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 84.3 horsepower and 78Nm of torque.

Built on the same steel frame as the GSX-8S naked bike, the V-Strom 800DE has a reinforced sub-frame to handle pillion passengers and luggage. It includes a 20-litre fuel tank, tipping the scales at 230kg with a seat height of 855mm. Suspension comes from Showa, with an adjustable front fork and a rear monoshock featuring remote preload adjustment; both offer 220mm of travel, matching the ground clearance.

Braking duties fall to dual 310mm front discs with four-piston calipers and a 260mm rear disc with a single-piston setup, aided by standard dual-channel ABS—the rear unit can be deactivated if desired. The spoked wheels are fitted with tubed Dunlop Mixtour tyres.

Electronics enhance its appeal for modern riders, including a bi-directional quickshifter, four riding modes (one for gravel), three traction control levels, and the 5-inch TFT dashboard for controls. Additional aids comprise the Easy Start System for one-touch ignition and Low RPM Assist to boost engine revs from a standstill, beneficial in varied conditions.

Priced around Rs 11 lakh ex-showroom (Haryana), it aligns with the Honda Transalp 750 and will rival the Rs 11.95 lakh Triumph Tiger 850 Sport.
