TV4 extends Hockeyallsvenskan TV deal until 2030

Hockeyallsvenskan has agreed to a new television contract with TV4 that runs until 2030, matching the duration of SHL's deal with the broadcaster. The agreement features record-high compensation and expanded broadcasting on TV4 and TV12. Both parties describe the outcome as satisfactory after prolonged negotiations.

The announcement came on Monday, confirming that TV4 will continue broadcasting Hockeyallsvenskan matches through 2030. This aligns both major Swedish ice hockey leagues—SHL and Hockeyallsvenskan—with TV4 until the same year. Aftonbladet was first to report the news, which followed extended negotiations intensified in recent weeks. Viaplay was reportedly considered as an alternative bidder, but Hockeyallsvenskan opted to stay with TV4, described by IK Oskarshamn chairman Johan Franzén as the right decision despite patience being tested. Franzén told Barometern-OT: “Att vi är kvar på Sveriges folkligaste kanal och syns i deras största kanaler gör att klubbarna kommer kunna använda det i sina egna partnerskap... Så det blir dubbel effekt för klubbarna.” Beyond financial terms, kept confidential by TV4 sports director Johan Cederqvist, the deal includes expanded clip rights and more games on linear TV. Cederqvist told Aftonbladet: “Vi kommer också sända matcher i TV4, det har vi inte haft förut.” He emphasized TV4's focus on popular Swedish leagues, noting satisfaction among all involved. The previous deal was worth around 100 million kronor per season, with clubs receiving at least five million kronor each in league contributions, a level Franzén said would be maintained or exceeded.
