Weezer announced its new self-titled album, also known as The Gold Album, on June 3. The project arrives August 21 and marks the band's first full-length release since 2021.
The 10-track album features the new single “We Might as Well Be Strangers,” a duet with Karly Hartzman of Wednesday. It also includes the lead single “Shine Again,” which was released in April. Producers Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume, formerly known as Kenny Beats, aimed to create what a press release described as “the most violent Weezer album ever.” Original members Rivers Cuomo and drummer Pat Wilson co-wrote a song for the first time since the band’s debut album. The Gold Album continues Weezer’s color-coded series of self-titled releases and will be issued via Reprise/Warner. The band also confirmed its Weezer: The Gathering tour, which begins in September with 32 North American dates. Support acts include The Shins and Silversun Pickups. Weezer is scheduled to perform at a festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on June 27.
