A 53-year-old woman died on Saturday afternoon (11) on Avenida Regente Feijó in Tatuapé, east zone of São Paulo, struck by a stray bullet during a shootout between an off-duty military police officer and criminals attempting to steal a motorcycle. The victim was taken to Pronto-Socorro Tatuapé but succumbed to her injuries. The case is under investigation by DHPP and the Military Police.
A 53-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet on Saturday afternoon (11) while waiting at a bus stop on Avenida Regente Feijó in Tatuapé, east São Paulo zone. An off-duty military police officer intervened in an attempted motorcycle robbery by three suspects, leading to a shootout, according to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).
The criminals fled, and it is unknown if any were injured. The victim was rushed to Pronto-Socorro Tatuapé but did not survive. The SSP expressed regret over the death and solidarity with the family.
The incident was reported to the Department of Homicides and Protection of Persons (DHPP) for investigation. A Military Police Inquiry (IPM) was also opened to probe the officer's actions.
