In Mérida highs of up to 41.7 degrees Celsius and lows of 22 degrees are expected. The sky will be mostly clear with winds of 14 kilometers per hour.
Cancun and Chetumal will have less severe conditions with highs of 31 degrees. Tulum and Playa del Carmen will reach up to 33 degrees.
The forecast indicates the heat wave will persist over the weekend with highs of up to 42 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
