L'Éthiopie et les États-Unis ont signé un accord-cadre de consultation bilatérale permanente à Washington, D.C. Le pacte vise à renforcer les liens entre les deux nations.

Le ministre des Affaires étrangères Gedion Timotios et la responsable américaine Allison Hooker ont signé l'accord au nom de leurs gouvernements respectifs. Ce cadre établit des réunions annuelles de haut niveau qui se tiendront alternativement à Addis-Abeba et à Washington. Le pacte repose sur trois piliers couvrant la prospérité économique et le commerce, la coopération en matière de défense et de sécurité, ainsi que la paix et la stabilité régionales. Les deux parties se sont engagées à étendre leur collaboration sur des questions bilatérales, régionales et mondiales par le biais de ces domaines. Les responsables ont déclaré que cet arrangement fournirait une structure durable pour faire progresser et maintenir les relations entre les deux pays au fil du temps.
