Ethiopia and the United States signed a permanent bilateral consultation framework agreement in Washington, D.C. The pact aims to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Foreign Minister Gedion Timotios and U.S. official Allison Hooker signed the agreement on behalf of their governments. The framework establishes annual high-level meetings alternating between Addis Ababa and Washington.
The pact rests on three pillars covering economic prosperity and trade, defense and security cooperation, and regional peace and stability. Both sides committed to expanding collaboration on bilateral, regional, and global matters through these areas.
Officials said the arrangement will provide a lasting structure to advance and sustain relations between the two countries over time.
