Äthiopien und die Vereinigten Staaten haben in Washington, D.C. ein ständiges Rahmenabkommen für bilaterale Konsultationen unterzeichnet. Das Abkommen zielt darauf ab, die Beziehungen zwischen den beiden Nationen zu stärken.

Außenminister Gedion Timotios und die US-Beamtin Allison Hooker unterzeichneten das Abkommen im Namen ihrer Regierungen. Der Rahmen sieht jährliche hochrangige Treffen vor, die abwechselnd in Addis Abeba und Washington stattfinden. Das Abkommen stützt sich auf drei Säulen: wirtschaftlicher Wohlstand und Handel, Verteidigungs- und Sicherheitskooperation sowie regionaler Frieden und Stabilität. Beide Seiten verpflichteten sich, die Zusammenarbeit in diesen Bereichen bei bilateralen, regionalen und globalen Angelegenheiten auszubauen. Beamte erklärten, dass die Vereinbarung eine dauerhafte Struktur biete, um die Beziehungen zwischen den beiden Ländern langfristig voranzubringen und zu festigen.
