Gaël Monfils fait ses adieux à Roland-Garros après une défaite en cinq sets

Gaël Monfils a disputé lundi son dernier match à Roland-Garros, battu en cinq sets par Hugo Gaston après 3h25 de jeu.

Le Français de 39 ans a cédé face à son compatriote sur le score de 2-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0. Le match s’est déroulé sur le court Philippe-Chatrier devant Yannick Noah, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Richard Gasquet et Gilles Simon.

Monfils a remporté les troisième et quatrième sets avant de s’incliner 6-0 dans la dernière manche. Il met ainsi un terme à dix-neuf participations à Roland-Garros, avec notamment une demi-finale en 2008 et trois quarts de finale.

Gaston a salué l’influence de son aîné sur sa carrière après le match. Monfils a disputé cette rencontre dans le cadre de sa dernière saison sur le circuit.
