Le bassiste de Rush, Geddy Lee, a révélé qu'il s'était initialement opposé à l'inclusion du morceau phare du groupe, Tom Sawyer, sur l'album Moving Pictures sorti en 1981. Le titre est devenu l'un des classiques du groupe malgré des difficultés d'enregistrement.

Dans une interview accordée à Rick Beato sur YouTube, Lee a expliqué les défis rencontrés durant la production. Il a déclaré que chaque étape de l'enregistrement de la chanson avait été marquée par des problèmes, la qualifiant de très difficile à réaliser et à mixer. Lee a ajouté qu'au bout du compte, il en avait tellement assez du morceau qu'il ne voulait pas l'inclure sur l'album.
