Un juge autorise l'usage de l'arme et du carnet comme preuves dans le procès de Mangione

Un juge new-yorkais a statué lundi qu'une arme à feu et un carnet, prétendument retrouvés dans le sac à dos de Luigi Mangione, pourront être utilisés comme éléments de preuve dans son procès pour meurtre devant la justice de l'État. D'autres objets issus d'une fouille initiale ont été écartés.

Le juge Gregory Carro a estimé que la fouille initiale du sac à dos, au moment de l'arrestation de Mangione à Altoona en Pennsylvanie, constituait une perquisition illégale effectuée sans mandat. Des objets tels qu'un chargeur d'arme, un téléphone portable, un passeport, un portefeuille et une puce informatique doivent être exclus des preuves, car le sac à dos ne se trouvait pas sous le contrôle immédiat de Mangione.
