Rogelio Vidal se rendait à son travail de peintre en bâtiment vers 6 heures du matin quand Aaron Nelson Hall a percuté son véhicule sur une bretelle reliant l'Interstate 11 à l'Interstate 15, près de l'échangeur Spaghetti Bowl au centre-ville de Las Vegas. L'impact a provoqué plusieurs tonneaux du camion de M. Vidal. Il a subi de graves blessures à la main, nécessitant une amputation au centre de traumatologie de l'UMC. M. Hall a été arrêté et inculpé de conduite en état d'ivresse ayant entraîné des lésions corporelles graves, de conduite imprudente et d'infractions routières. Il a été libéré sous caution de 75 000 dollars et a plaidé non coupable. M. Vidal a déclaré au Las Vegas Review-Journal qu'il souhaitait que l'autre conducteur réponde de ses actes, tout en essayant de se concentrer sur le pardon.
